LOOK WHAT'S NEW IN THE WORLD OF HI-TECH EYEWEAR AS IT MAKES A GREAT LEAP FORWARD

- JUSTIN CONNOLLY Technology Editor

SEE SMARTER

AFTER decades of promise, it does really seem as if we're on the brink of entering that promised land of really useful - and usable - smart glasses.

With a couple of new releases to reveal just this week, and the prospect of more to come, the tech might have finally caught up with the ambition to make eyewear that does more than just help your vision.

The two devices we report on this week are different, with different use cases and different features. But they do both have something in common - progress.

Processing power, camera tech, and the all-important battery life might just be entering the zone where these things can now make the dreams come true.

Let's take a closer look at what's on offer.

Oakley Meta HSTN

Meta already has a successful partnership with RayBan making smart sunglasses... but this week revealed another collaboration with another giant in the field, Oakley.

The Oakley Meta HSTN (which we apparently must pronounce HOW-stuhn) are Oakleys through and through, but pack in some Meta tech to take the experience to the next level.

The HSTN improves on the RayBans in some specific depart ments - video capture quality and battery life.
