COUPLE HAVE RETURNED PUB TO ITS FORMER GLORY

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

IT'S just over a year since Charlie and Jake White took over a pub that had seen a succession of landlords come and go.

But the couple have made great strides to return the Four Bells in Woodborough to its former glory and make the pub part of the fabric of the village once again.

Their efforts have paid off as the inn, in Main Street, is now one of four contenders in our Notts Bites awards for best pub. Over the next few weeks we'll be speaking to each of the finalists, giving them the chance to pitch why they should win your vote.

Charlie had been general manager and Jake was head chef before they became licensees in March 2024. Since then they've turned their attention to bringing it back to the welcoming and vibrant pub people remembered before the pandemic with an interesting selection of drinks and good quality home-cooked food.

Charlie said: "Supporting local breweries is central to what makes our drinks offering unique. We regularly feature taps from well-loved local breweries, which not only gives our customers a taste of the local beer scene but also supports local businesses."

Drinkers are likely to find ales from Welbeck Abbey, Milestone, Pheasantry, Nottingham Brewery, Dancing Duck, and Little Brewing Company. Charlie and assistant manager Ashley have also created a cocktail menu combining local spirits and garnishes for a "distinctly local experience".
