Residents 'eating dust' because of work on new 130-home development

SOME CONSIDERING MOVING BECAUSE OF 'LIVING NIGHTMARE'
PEOPLE living on a Bilborough estate say their lives are a nightmare for 12 hours a day because of building work on a nearby housing development.
Planning permission to build 130 homes on playing fields next to Westbury Academy was granted in July 2023.
Work has now begun, and after three weeks of heavy duty machinery shaking their homes, dust ending up on their clean clothes and security dogs barking, some people are looking to move away from the area.
The land has been earmarked for homes for many years and, while residents in Chingford Road understand they have to be built somewhere, they say they are struggling to cope with the disruption.
Claire Limb, 50, and Jim Spink, 53, have lived on the quiet estate for 17 years and have got used to the open green space at the back of their house. Now the view tells a different story.
They said: “All of a sudden, we saw the work, and we knew it was coming, but we didn’t expect the amount of dust that came from it. All around my house, it’s covered in it.
