SOME REMAIN CONCERNED DESPITE THEIR PARTY LEADER'S PREFERENCE

- By OLIVER PRIDMORE

REFORM UK's Nottinghamshire councillors are being given the chance to vote against their leader's preference on a huge boundary shakeup which left some "unhappy".

Several candidates standing for Nigel Farage’s party in the 2025 local elections said that if elected to Nottinghamshire County Council, they would fight against their areas becoming part of a bigger Nottingham city.

However, council leader Mick Barton has confirmed his preference under the boundary shakeup plans is for a bigger Nottingham council covering Gedling and Broxtowe. It is understood that some Reform councillors still remain concerned about backing their leader's preference in a crunch meeting on tomorrow, given the pledges they made in the election.

The Post previously reported on a claim that two of Reform’s county councillors said they could be suspended from the local group if they do not back Councillor Barton’s preference. That article led to Councillor Barton issuing an unprecedented ban against the Post and Nottinghamshire Live from speaking to him or any of his 40 colleagues.
