CHRISTIAN REACHED OUT 'WITH LOVE AND PRAYERS'
A REFORM councillor has been criticised over his past correspondence with a terrorist involved in the 9/11 attacks since he was appointed to a senior cabinet position.
According to the Express, Rory Green, a recently elected Nottinghamshire County councillor, made national headlines in 2014 when it emerged he had been a pen pal of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a key organiser behind the terror attack on the twin towers.
Mr Green, now a council cabinet member for children and families on, defended his correspondence with the imprisoned terrorist, explaining that his religious beliefs were what led him to feel compassion for Mr Mohammed.
He shared with the press: “He is obviously an educated individual, an intellectual. It must be so lonely in that prison. I just had this compassion for him.”
He further expressed his motivation, stating: “I thought, this man needs Jesus as much as the average Joe - who else is going to reach out to this man with love and prayers?”
