Promotion is the goal for new keeper James
Nottingham Post
|January 15, 2026
A DREAM has already been fulfilled for James Belshaw in signing for Notts County, but the next one to make reality is to achieve promotion with them.
Born and raised in Clifton, veteran goalkeeper Belshaw was brought up in a Notts-supporting family that was ingrained in him from a young age.
He watched from the terraces as a kid, but having now completed his move to Meadow Lane from Harrogate Town at the age of 35, there is an even greater sense of purpose to his love for the club, now being a representative of them on the pitch.
“It feels very surreal,’ admitted Belshaw on signing for his boyhood club. “It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks since first learning of the interest, and to be sitting here now as a Notts County player is a dream come true.
“These kinds of stories can often not materialise in football, so it’s a really proud moment for me and my family to experience, and it’s an honour to wear the badge and represent the football club.
