Opportunity missed and Douglas dilemma for Forest

Nottingham Post

December 24, 2025

Much like Bournemouth, Fulham have become something of a bogey side for Forest on their travels in recent years.

For all the good work Dyche has overseen, this particular curse remains. It is now a 10-1 aggregate score against the Reds from four Premier League visits (and defeats) to that corner of the capital. It is their worst 100 per cent loss rate away from home against any opponent in the competition.

This one, though, was particularly frustrating for the visitors as it was a big opportunity missed. They could have had a healthy cushion over the relegation places going into Christmas; instead, the gap remains at five points.

Struggling for consistency is why Forest are where they are. They have made up some ground since Dyche's appointment but they still have some distance to cover before they can breathe a little easier.

The Reds have generally responded well to any setbacks under Dyche, and have usually got back on track quickly. Doing so with Manchester City next up will be quite the challenge, though. A performance more akin to the one that saw off Tottenham Hotspur than the one Forest put in on Monday evening will be required.

Blunt attack

The visitors were far from being at their best at Craven Cottage. They had some encouraging moments but never really tested Fulham.

The Cottagers had shipped nine goals in their previous three Premier League fixtures; this should have been a chance for Dyche's side to put them under pressure. Instead, it was largely limp and lacklustre from Forest.
