FINAL PROGRAMME TO GO OUT ON SUNDAY

- By OLIVER PRIDMORE

One last show by city radio legend John Peters still to be heard, says his old friend

THE final programme recorded by a Nottingham radio legend before his death has not yet been broadcast but will soon hit the airwaves in his honour.

A long-time friend and colleague of John Peters, who died at the age of 75 on Saturday, says that he managed to give a speech at his daughter's wedding the week before he died, despite being very ill.

John’s career saw him become a familiar voice on stations including Radio Trent and Boom Radio.

Since the announcement of his death, hundreds of people have left comments on Boom Radio's Facebook page paying tribute.

John was the first voice Nottingham heard when Radio Trent launched on July 3, 1975. Other stations that John helped launch included Saga 106.6 and GEM-AM. The final part of his career saw him join the line-up at the Nottingham-based national station Boom Radio.
