New 'six-month window' to close Victoria Market

NOTTINGHAM City Council is now said to be working on a “six-month window” to close down the remainder of Victoria Market.
Only four traders remain at the indoor market after years of uncertainty over the city council's plans to close it.
The number of traders has gradually continued to dwindle since the Labour-run authority first announced in 2022 that it wanted to give up the site to save cash, with its lease on the market set to cost £39m over the next 50 years.
Several closure dates have come and gone since then and a city council email in late 2025 suggested that the authority thought it could take “at least another 12 months” for the site to close.
