Mobile library heading for Sherwood as new building is still not ready

THE temporary replacement for a new Nottingham library that should have opened well over a year ago has been confirmed while the “unacceptable” wait for the real thing continues.

A mobile library van will be coming to the Sherwood area in the coming days as the “unacceptable delay” to opening the new Sherwood Library continues.
Campaigners and local residents continue to express their anger about how long it is taking for Sherwood to get its library back - with its old one having first been deemed not fit for purpose back in 2017.
The new facility was originally set to open in the summer of 2024 but progress has been delayed as contractors work to resolve defects across the site, with more than 100 issues identified at one stage.
Many of those issues still remain and Nottingham City Council most recently said that the spring of 2026 was its latest target to finally open the site.
