Locals desperate to see fire-hit Pelham Hotel transformed

The Pelham Hotel pub in Gawthorne Street, New Basford, closed in 2019 and was then severely damaged by a fire in August 2023.

Planning permission was granted for The Pelham to be turned into a pair of shops and an HMO in October 2023, but no work has begun at the building since this plan was passed.

Today, the pub is boarded up, with boards also fencing off the premises. The building also remains without a roof following the fire.

Neighbours in Gawthorne Street suggested homes or shops would be good replacements for the site, adding that they don't hold any fond memories of the Pelham.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the pub brought significant antisocial behaviour to the area, including fights, shouting and pub goers urinating on the street.
