'MODEST' CHANGES SHOW 'NO CONSIDERATION FOR RESIDENTS'

Later hours at popular pub upsets neighbours

A WEST Bridgford pub has been granted permission to stay open later - but neighbours say they have been given “no consideration”.

The Poppy and Pint in Lady Bay will now stay open past midnight each day after a request to extend its opening hours submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council in March was approved on Thursday.

The pub's previous planning permission allowed it to open from 10am until 11.30pm, with last orders at 11.10pm.

Now, it will open between 8am until 12.30am Sunday to Thursday and from 8am to lam on Fridays and Saturdays.

The pub, run by Castle Rock Brewery, is a popular spot, hosting group activities including baby and toddler and dance groups.

The pub also functions as a café, offering coffee and cake. Members of the Lady Bay Tennis Club, immediately outside the pub, use the café.

A report to councillors said the extended hours would “enable the venue to offer a wider service to a greater number of customers whilst retaining its community offer” and keep it running as a “viable” business.

A noise survey found the extended hours would have a “low impact” on nearby residents.
