VICTIM HAD BEEN MADE UP BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS

- By MARTIN NAYLOR

A NOTTINGHAM pervert befriended a 14-year-old girl online, invited her to visit him in the city and asked her “are you naughty?”

Nottingham Crown Court heard how Lawrence Johns also messaged the teen “will you let me undress you?” and asked what colour underwear she wore.

But unbeknown to the 34-year-old of Sherwood, “Ruby” was, in fact, a group of self-styled ‘paedophile hunters’ who alerted the police to his activity and he was arrested.

Despite being cautioned for a similar type of offence in 2017, he still maintains he has no sexual interest in children.

Handing him an eight-month prison term, suspended for two years, Judge Michael Auty KC said: “You have been sensible enough to plead guilty but unfortunately we are in a situation where you have done this once before about eight years ago.
