HERE'S to good cheer as Nottingham's biggest beer festival opens to the general public today.

The Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival returns once again with hundreds of ales to sup.

Last year's event drew a crowd of 12,000 enthusiasts eager to try new beers and ciders from not only their doorstep in Notts but across the country.

The annual event, organised by the Nottingham branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), will have 500 cask beers and 100 ciders and perries.
