SET-PIECE PROBLEMS ON SHOW ONCE AGAIN AGAINST MIDTJYLLAND
-
IN one of his very first interviews, Ange Postecoglou admitted time wasn’t on his side in the Nottingham Forest job.
Six games in, some Reds fans clearly believe it should be time up for the Greek-born Australian. That was the sentiment conveyed on Thursday night at least.
What should have been a momentous occasion for the club as they welcomed European football back to the City Ground turned into an evening of brutal chants and damning stats. Postecoglou looked shellshocked as his team fell 3-2 to Danish outfit FC Midtjylland.
He made a hasty retreat down the tunnel after the final whistle but by then the message from the stands had been delivered loud and clear.
Boos had rung out at full-time for the second game in succession Trentside, following a similar reaction after Saturday's loss to Sunderland.
There had also been a loud chorus of “you're getting sacked in the morning” directed Postecoglou’s way from the home crowd. To ram home the point, supporters also sang the name of Nuno Espiritio Santo.
Many fans had been against a change in the dugout in the first place. Off-field politics did for Nuno in the end but it is results that are the issue for his successor.
