Irish eyes smiling for St Patrick's Day in the city

Hundreds descended upon Old Market Square yesterday to mark the annual shindig.

Less than 24 hours after the Muslim community gathered in Slab Square for Iftar, the fast-breaking meal during Ramadan, the heart of Nottingham became a sea of green as the city's Irish population paid homage to the patron saint of Ireland with music, dance and a spot of dressing up, whether that be a sprig of shamrock or the full leprechaun regalia.
