Inspectors pleased with Notts Police progress but 'more work to do'
Nottingham Post
|April 05, 2025
INSPECTORS have said they are "pleased" with improvements at Nottinghamshire Police but concluded there is "still more work to do".
The force was put into special measures by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) after being inspected at the end of 2023. Inspectors had raised concerns about the standard of the force's investigations, telling bosses to ensure crimes had adequate super vision, that victims were updated, and that suspects were identified and assessed over how dangerous they were.
However, following a recent inspection between January 27 and February 7, HMICFRS removed two of its notices related to concerns about the force's performance.
The third concern notice, which related to the quality of Nottinghamshire Police's investigations, was not removed but inspectors said improvements had been made. Inspectors found officers and staff had received briefings to help them improve the standards of their investigations and that officers and supervisors were being held accountable for their performance.
Roy Wilsher, His Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary for the Eastern Region, said: "They were aware of the requirements for victim needs assessments and to keep victims regularly updated. We saw examples of this information being routinely recorded, including the method of contact and details of what was discussed."
