READERS US TELL US ABOUT THEIR RESTAURANT 'MUST HAVES'

If you could eat only one dish for the rest of your life...

EVERYONE has their favourite dishes when visiting a restaurant or takeaway. It's the one you constantly crave and never tire of. You swear to yourself that you'll try something different next time, and then immediately dismiss the notion because you know you simply have to have it.

I asked my Facebook followers if they could only eat one dish for the rest of their lives, what would it be? I was expecting a wide variety of answers, but there was one that cropped up time and time again. And as a fan of it myself, I have to agree.

The most popular is an Asian favourite - prawn toast. But it's not presented like the typical starter at a Chinese restaurant or takeaway. It is the to-die-for furikake prawn toast served by Japanese-inspired restaurant Kushi-ya in Nottingham.

Here, the prawns are encased in a golden roll of fried bread topped with Japanese mayo and furikake seasoning. Roman Filipowicz, Lee Walker, Jane Icke, Phil Tomlinson and Rebecca Meadows all named it their number one choice.

And they're not alone, with around 2,000 served per week at the restaurant, off Low Pavement. Restaurant critic Jay Rayner described it both “delicious and funny” when he dined there.
