WIDOW PAYS TRIBUTE TO 'LOVABLE' JAMES, 40
WHEN police knocked on Adele Cook's door at 3am to deliver the gut-wrenching news of her husband’s death, she assumed he had been killed in a crash.
“I always thought he'd die in his car,” she said. “I never thought for a second he would be stabbed in his home town.”
James Cook was fatally stabbed in Castle Gate, Newark, just before midnight on Wednesday, April 30.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 40-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A murder investigation was launched and an arrest made.
“I had to wake my three kids up and tell them separately,” recalled Mrs Cook. “How do you tell three kids together that their dad has died?”
“As a mum, when you see your kids go through pain, how do you stop it? You just have to be there and go through it with them.
