How city can ‘rise like a phoenix from the ashes’

Part of the former Broadmarsh Centre will be transformed into a major NHS centre

A PLAN is being drawn up to map out Nottingham’s aspirations for the future through the use of the legend of Robin Hood, its sporting heritage, pioneering scientific breakthroughs, and the arts.

City leaders say inspiration will be drawn from cities such as Manchester and Sheffield, with visits there planned in the coming weeks.

Nottingham City Council says cities are increasingly competing for talent, investment and reputational benefit, all while facing “complex challenges” like climate change, digital transformation, the housing crisis and worsening deprivation.

The Labour-led authority says the city has undergone extensive regeneration over the last decade, particularly in the greater Broad Marsh area, where a new city park and central library have opened.
