IT was almost inevitable the cameras would be trained on Morgan Gibbs-White as soon as the final whistle had blown on Nottingham Forest's FA Cup campaign at Wembley.
The England international had been inches away from dragging the Reds back into contention under the arch. Twice he wobbled the Manchester City woodwork as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side desperately fought to earn a place in the cup showpiece next month.
Gibbs-White is Forest's talisman and was clearly emotional after going so close to securing a shot at silverware. His passion, drive and will to win are all qualities which make him the player he is.
But a cynic might argue there was another reason the Reds ace had the spotlight trained on him at full-time on Sunday - because of the opposition he was up against.
City have Gibbs-White on their radar ahead of the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old is viewed as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne as the Belgian prepares to depart the Etihad Stadium at the end of this term.
