High school head demanded lavish leaving ball as funds for poorer pupils were slashed

THE headmaster of a struggling Nottingham private school complained about not being given a lavish retirement ball before his sudden exit.
Last month, Nottingham High School confirmed headteacher Kevin Fear had left months before his planned retirement after 17 years.
His departure came amid increasing financial challenges at the school, which cut bursary funding for disadvantaged pupils for the next academic year.
At the time Mr Fear, who earned £350,000-£400,000 in 2022/23, said the school needed to “make sure [the] budget fits what money is coming in”.
