SERVING UP FRESH AND HEALTHY POWER BOWLS AND JUICES

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

IT'S not hard to find pizzas, fried chicken and burgers on virtually every street in Nottingham city centre. But finding something quick, healthy and satisfying is like looking for a penguin in the Sahara desert.

Clean Cut Kitchen started a clean eating revolution in 2017 but it closed last year, blaming rising costs. Since then, options have been limited to salads from sandwich shops and supermarkets.

Nottingham newcomer Tossed - the first outside London - is bringing something fresh and tasty to the table and the influx of customers within days of opening demonstrates a demand from those looking beyond junk food.

The outlet, in Albert Street, shows feelgood food isn't just about lettuce and cucumber, with an enticing range of salads as well as breakfast, wraps, hot power bowls and freshly made juices and smoothies.

One of the best features of Tossed is the flexibility. Customers can choose from signature dishes, which can all be customised, or design their own from scratch, using digital screens in the shop. Anyone with an allergy can tap into that to filter out anything unsafe.

Vegetarian, vegan, keto, gluten-free, lactose-intolerant?

There are options for everyone.

The protein-packed breakfast selection of eggs includes either pesto, fiery (thanks to the chilli flakes) and salmon. Sourdough toast comes topped with avocado and feta cheese and the pots of yoghurt and fruit have flavours including bananas and custard and mango and passion fruit.
