Faster train travel on track to Lincoln

IMPROVED NOTTINGHAM LINK TO BE UNVEILED TO COUNCIL
PLANS to speed up rail journeys between Lincoln and Nottingham are up for discussion next week.
Network Rail will update Lincolnshire County Council on its plans, which could allow for quicker journeys between the two cities.
Councillors will consider the proposals at a highways and transport scrutiny committee meeting on Monday.
Network Rail said the improvements would involve closing down the signal box at Swinderby station and resignalling the line to run trains at 75mph.
The journey time between Lincoln and Nottingham is currently between 50 minutes to an hour.
It is not yet clear how far the increased speed could cut that. Operators will also soon be able to run more rail services between Lincoln and Newark.
