Eyesore site will become 'stunning gateway' into town

AN abandoned part of Kirkby-in-Ashfield that has been blighted by derelict buildings is set to be transformed.
Ashfield District Council has revealed large-scale plans for what it calls the North Kirkby Gateway, a project to redevelop Kirkby's Pond Hole site and the former factory shop on Ellis Street.
The council said it will turn the old factory into a "striking landmark building" with 24 town centre apartments and business units along Kirkby Plaza. There will also be new parking spaces and 55 units providing retirement living for Ashfield residents.
