Explosions to bring down power station cooling towers

COOLING towers at a decommissioned power station are about to be demolished in what will be the first such event in Nottinghamshire for more than a decade.

A series of explosions will bring down all eight cooling towers at the former Cottam Power Station today.
The company behind the demolition says a police presence is expected for the demolition due to the “high-profile” nature of the event.
The demolition will take place at around 11am and, once complete, very little will be left of the former power station.
