A “DISTRACTED” e-bike rider struck a pedestrian after going through a red light in the city centre.

- By MARTIN NAYLOR

Footage played at Nottingham Magistrates' Court showed Nana Kuffour collide with the woman as she crossed Lower Parliament Street outside the Victoria Centre.

X-rays later revealed she had suffered two fractures to her foot. She was unable to drive or work as a result.

The 20-year-old Nottingham Trent University student who injured her said he did not realise the light he jumped was red as he was distracted by something happening on the pavement.

It ws a mistake that cost him almost £300. The chair of the bench said: “There were clearly unfortunate consequences for your actions that day and hopefully a lesson will be learned about taking care and attention when you are riding these vehicles. They have some speed.”

Grace Rennie, prosecuting, said the collision took place at around 7.15pm on October 25 last year.
