Demolition of cinema 'long overdue' say some locals

WORKS to demolish a cinema site are set to begin this month as part of a £25million town restoration project - and residents can't wait.

The derelict Galaxy cinema in Long Eaton closed its doors over a decade ago and is now being demolished to make space for business premises, flats and townhouses.
Residents of the town have now expressed their disdain for the derelict site.
"If you ask me, the building can't get knocked down fast enough", said a pensioner living near the site. "The cinema is an eyesore and needs coming down".
