REGULATOR FOUND MORE THAN 3,000 OVERDUE FIRE SAFETY ACTIONS
A HOUSING regulator says a Nottinghamshire council is “seriously failing” after an inspection revealed more than 3,000 overdue fire safety actions.
The Regulator for Social Housing (RSH) graded Broxtowe Borough Council as C3, meaning it does not meet required standards and there are serious regulatory concerns about its provision of social housing.
While this is not the lowest of the grades, which range from 1 to 4, it presents a bleak picture of the council’s housing provision.
The main concerns identified by the regulator include: more than 3,000 overdue fire safety remedial actions; inaccurate and outdated information about tenants’ homes (including records of potential hazards); a lack of understanding of the diverse needs of tenants and insufficient engagement with tenants.
