City's cash crisis team paid £14k in expenses

COMMISSIONERS HIRED TO HELP TACKLE COUNCIL'S FINANCIAL WOES

NOTTINGHAM City Council’s commissioners have received more than £14,000 in expenses since being sent to the authority after pledging to keep their costs to a minimum.

The team of three government-appointed officials, each of whom is paid more than £1,000 a day, have collectively received £14,685 in expenses since February last year.

The most expenses were paid to Margaret Lee, the commissioner for finance, who has received £8,100 since February last year.

The vast majority of the expenses relate to travel and mileage, although the commissioners have also spent £327 on accommodation.

Lead commissioner Tony McArdle and two colleagues were sent to the city council in response to a string of problems at the authority, most notably its effective declaration of bankruptcy months earlier.
