SHE ALSO DROVE 41,812 MILES IN VICTIM'S MOBILITY CAR
A CARER stole more than £5,000 from a woman with multiple sclerosis who saw her as her “personal assistant”.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how Laighken Green used the victim’s mobility car as her own to rack up thousands of miles as a delivery driver after her previous job ended.
The 37-year-old was paid to clean the woman’s house while she was in hospital for lengthy periods but only turned up a few times, the prosecution said.
She withdrew cash from the victim’s account and bought a £1,300 Apple Watch, which she then sold.
Jailing her for a year, suspended for two years, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: “You knew what you were doing.
“This lady, who is now 59, has had a lifetime of misery. Once you had your job terminated, she thought enough of you to take you on again — you were not just a carer, you were a friend.
“One of your problems is that you are always anxious to please people and so perhaps that is part of the reason why you did not think what you were doing to your friend was as serious as it really was.
