£2M UPGRADE WILL ADDRESS STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS AND IMPROVE DRAINAGE AND LIGHTING

- By GEORGE PALMER-SOADY

MILLIONS of pounds-worth of work to make a shopping centre’s car park safer will finally begin after a yearlong delay.

Remediation works at the multi-storey car park at Mansfield’s Four Seasons shopping centre look set to begin in January - more than a year after an investigation revealed 458 defects.

The £2 million upgrades to the car park, which was built in 1976 and is the biggest in the town centre, will protect the structure’s concrete frame and ensure its “long-term structural integrity”.

The work, expected to last 40 weeks, will also see upgrades to the car park’s drainage systems and barriers. Mansfield District Council, which owns the car park, says it will make it easier for shoppers to navigate.
