Bumpy roundabout is 'like being on a Goose Fair ride'

BUT DAMAGED JUNCTION IS NO FUN FOR CYCLISTS AND MOTORISTS
THERE'S a new Goose Fair ride in Nottinghamshire but it's not on The Forest recreation ground.
It's the nickname given to a mini-roundabout at the heart of Gedling Village, one that is plagued by potholes and faded road markings.
Unlike the one on Mansfield Road, this junction doesn't boast a two-metre fibreglass goose. However, riding over it on your bicycle is akin to a white-knuckle ride at the famous fair, according to resident Francis Rodrigues.
The 75-year-old, who cycles and drives round the island on a weekly basis, said it is a "completely broken" and "poses a threat to life and limb".
Mr Rodrigues, who lives in nearby Waverley Avenue, is calling on Nottinghamshire County Council to urgently fix the Arnold Lane/ Main Road junction, a demand backed by his local MP.
"It's a problem because the markings have been obliterated," he said. "It's like being on a Goose Fair ride when you ride over it. It's quite unnerving. Some motorists are avoiding the island and going the other way. It's indicative of many roads within the county."
