Broadmarsh demolition to prepare site for NHS centre

PART of Nottingham’s Broad Marsh Green Heart park will be closed off as work begins on building a major new NHS centre in the area that could deliver 140,000 appointments a year.

It has been confirmed that initial work will soon begin on the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in the Broad Marsh.

The CDC is being built on the site of a row of vacant shops at the bottom of Lister Gate that are connected to the remains of the former Broadmarsh Centre. The site will officially be handed over to local construction firm Henry Brothers on Monday and demolition will be taking place on the section of the building connecting the empty Lister Gate shops to the Broadmarsh Centre.

These “enabling” works will take place for around 17 weeks until the end of November, with the CDC set to open in late 2026. Nottingham City Council has confirmed that, while these initial works take place, there will be two key changes for those using the Green Heart park, which opened in September 2024.
