Boss says business booming since Robin Hood took a bow

THE boss of Nottingham Building Society, which came under fire for axing Robin Hood from its logo, has said the controversial change has made it more popular than ever.

In October last year, the business announced it would be renaming itself from The Nottingham and dropping the local hero, the latter prompting some criticism.

Nine months later, branding featuring the legendary outlaw has been pulled down as the mutual's city branch locates from Parliament Street to nearby Clumber Street.

At the newly opened branch there is no sign of Robin, who has been replaced by a black, knot-like N on a mint-green background.

Chief executive Sue Hayes said the relocation and the rebranding had successfully prepared the business for the future needs of members.

"The problem was that The Nottingham with the Robin Hood logo did not research very well with younger people," she said.
