Bar-restaurant licence bid refused

THE people behind plans for a new chicken restaurant and bar in Beeston say they will open somewhere else after their application for a premises licence was turned down.
Broxtowe Borough Council's licensing panel rejected the application on Wednesday, due to public safety concerns and the fact the applicant was refused the lease for an empty unit in The Square, Beeston.
C&B Brew Co wanted to convert the “bare shell” unit into a craft ale and gourmet chicken restaurant called Mary Lou’s.
The company said it would not appeal the decision and was looking for alternative locations for the venue, which would cater for around 70 diners and host live music, including solo singers, bands and comedy shows.
Licensing documents said the venue proposed “later than expected times’ for alcohol sales, with planned sale hours from 9am until midnight Monday to Wednesday, 9am until 2am Thursday to Saturday and 10am until midnight on Sundays.
