Answers needed soon for Paterson as Notts stumble

AWAY DEFEAT CONTINUES PAINFUL START TO SEASON

MARTIN Paterson is not panicking over Notts County’s slow start to the season but there is a sense of urgency in addressing certain issues that are influencing early results.

A last-gasp defeat away at Barrow on Saturday made it three defeats from the first four competitive outings this term for the Magpies, with only one point picked up in League Two from their opening-day draw at Newport County.

The Magpies had battled hard to equalise in the 89th minute against Barrow thanks to summer arrival Matthew Dennis after the hosts had gone ahead in the first half.

However, in the seventh minute of added time, with only six being given initially, Barrow scored again to pick up their first victory of the season.

Paterson felt it was too simple to focus on that final moment of the game as the reason for this latest defeat, criticising how his team started, which ultimately set the tone for the afternoon

“It does hurt,” said Paterson.
