BUT SITE HAS 'STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY' SAYS REPORT AHEAD OF WORKS
A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE shopping centre's car park has been described as having “structural integrity” ahead of £2 million being spent on upgrades of the 1970s site.
Mansfield District Council recently confirmed that it will be demolishing the Walkden Street car park after a partial collapse of its roof in September.
That decision came despite millions having been spent on maintaining the Walkden Street car park in recent years, with the site having first closed due to safety issues in February 2024, and £2 million of further work was needed to bring the site up to scratch.
The latter work was never booked in and the demolition work is now expected to begin in weeks.
