Historic date for race in memory of hospice champ

MORE than 1,000 runners took to the streets of Bideford for what became a historic day in Devon's sporting calendar, as the annual Bideford 10k sold out and hosted the region’s first England Age Group Masters 10k qualifying road race.

Organised by Bideford Amateur Athletic Club (AAC), the event reached full capacity with 1,100 entrants, many of whom had travelled from across the country to compete for a chance to represent England. The qualification opportunity added a new level of prestige to the race and helped attract a high-calibre field.
