Govt to sell subsidized Bharat Rice from next week

The government will start selling Bharat Rice at ₹29 a kg in the retail market next week to cool prices of the staple foodgrain and provide relief to consumers.
It also directed traders to disclose rice stocks on its portal every Friday to check hoarding and control prices. "Despite export restrictions on various varieties, retail and wholesale prices of rice have increased 13.8% and 15.7%, respectively, on year. To control prices and check inflationary trends in the
food economy, the government has decided to sell subsidised Bharat Rice at ₹29 per kg in the retail market from next week," said Union food and Public Distribution Secretary Sanjeev Chopra on Friday.
