India's Top Companies Pledge to Invest Over ₹2 tn in Assam

Reliance said that it plans to make Assam a hub of clean and green energy, including nuclear energy
India's top conglomerates pledged to invest more than ₹2 trillion in Assam over the next three to five years across sectors.
Reliance Industries Ltd, Adani Group and Vedanta Group promised to invest ₹50,000 crore each, while the Tata Group pledged to invest ₹25,000 crore during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit that kicked off on Tuesday.
"History is witness to the major role played by eastern India in India's prosperity. Today, as we progress towards Viksit Bharat, these regions will display their true potential," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while inaugurating the two-day summit.
"Assam's contribution to the country's growth is increasing and it now boasts an economy of around ₹6 trillion," he added. The Assam government, he said, is fostering a better investment environment.
