TikTok Goes Dark in US, Disappears From All App Stores

By preemptively taking the app offline, TikTok now has a chance to mobilize its US user base to protest the ban
TikTok suspended its services for US-based users while Google and Apple Inc. removed the app from the mobile app stores to avoid penalties under a new law, as the social media firm awaits a possible reprieve from President-elect Donald Trump to continue operations.
"A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S.," TikTok said in a notification on the platform to users Saturday. "Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now."
Apple and Google removed TikTok from their mobile app stores in the US as required by a law that took effect Sunday.
