Prepare for more heatwaves, hotter summer, IMD warns

During the April-June period, 10-11 days of heatwaves are expected in eastern parts of the country, against a normal of four to seven days
race for a hotter summer this year as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that most of the country will likely witness above-normal maximum temperatures during April-June.
Above-normal heatwaves are expected over Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and northern parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, said IMD director-general Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Monday.
