Bigger cheques, strong volumes drive twofold jump in deal value

PE, VC deals in India surged to $690 million in the week ended 9 May, driven by transactions of over $100 mn
The total amount invested by private equity and venture capital investors in India increased in the week ended 9 May, thanks to a bunch of deals valued above $100 million and higher volumes, data collated by VCCircle showed.
Total PE, VC deal value nearly doubled to $690 million in the five-day period across 32 deals, versus $396 deal value in the previous week across 30 deals. The actual amounts will be higher because the values of some deals were not disclosed.
The jump was supported by investments from the likes of General Catalyst and TPG Growth, and the UK government-backed British International Investment (BII) and Singapore wealth fund GIC.
