TIRUPATI: Indian Army Jawan Mudavath Murali Naik, a 23-year-old Agniveer from Kalli Thanda village in Sri Sathya Sai district, was killed in action during an exchange of fire with Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir early Friday morning.

Naik served with the 851 Light Regiment under the Indian Army's Northern Command and had joined the Army in November 2022.
His father, Sriram Naik, said the family received a call around 9 am from an Army officer. "The officer asked my wife who Murali was.
She said he was our son. He then asked to speak to me and told us what had happened," he said.
"My son died for the country. We have lost our only support. Now we are alone."
