India Urges Citizens to Avoid Russian Army Jobs, Presses Moscow to End Practice

India on Thursday called on its citizens to steer clear of offers to join the Russian Army, while pressing Moscow to halt the recruitment of Indians as support staff in its military.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed it has formally raised the issue with Russian authorities in both New Delhi and Moscow.
The move comes amid reports that some Indians, who had initially travelled on student and business visas, were compelled to join Russian military units deployed in the conflict in Ukraine.
