DGCA probe panel grills IndiGo CEO for 2nd day; regulator sacks four flight ops inspectors

IndiGo chief executive Pieter Elbers appeared before the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's high-level inquiry panel for the second consecutive day on Friday, as the regulator dismissed four Flight Operations Inspectors for alleged lapses related to the ongoing operational crisis.

The airline, which has been battling widespread disruptions since early December, said its services are now slowly stabilising.
On Thursday, IndiGo announced travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 for passengers affected by mass cancellations. A day later, it said its financial liability from this compensation exercise is expected to exceed Rs 500 crore. The carrier added that an independent aviation specialist will conduct a root cause analysis of the disruptions.
IndiGo said it planned to operate more than 2,000 flights on Friday under a revised scaleddown schedule. The DGCA has directed the airline to reduce its winter schedule by 10 per cent in response to the turmoil.
