CM Rekha Gupta proposes renaming Old Delhi Railway Station to honour Maharaja Agrasen

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has written to the Union Railway Ministry, proposing that the iconic Old Delhi Railway Station be renamed as Maharaja Agrasen Railway Station, in tribute to the ancient Indian ruler known for his ideals of equality, peace, and prosperity.

In a formal letter to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw dated June 19, Gupta urged the Centre to consider the renaming as a tribute that reflects the sentiments of lakhs of Delhiites. Maharaja Agrasen, considered the legendary founder of the Agrawal community, is widely respected across northern India, especially in Delhi, where his contributions are seen as symbolic of fairness, non-violence, and social harmony.
