Torre wins by default as Baste is a no-show at charity boxing match

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III won without even throwing a punch as his foe Davao City Acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte was a no-show in their charity boxing match on Sunday, July 27, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The much-awaited showdown drew P20 million in donation and ticket sales, which Torre said would go to the victims of the recent weather disturbances that hit parts of Metro Manila and Luzon.
Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, Duterte had announced that he would not be attending the match as he was in Singapore to fulfill “personal commitments”.
Speaking on the Basta Dabawenyo Episode 2 podcast released on his Facebook page, Duterte said he had other priorities, describing Sundays as dedicated as “family day”.
