Rhian Ramos gears up for challenging roles
Manila Bulletin
|August 21, 2025
Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos reminisced about her early days in show business, recalling the excitement of receiving her first paycheck almost two decades ago.
The thrill of those initial earnings, a tangible reward for her hard work and passion, still sparks joy in her heart. Each paycheck represented not just money, but the realization of her dreams and the beginning of a remarkable journey in the entertainment industry.
"There were two purchases that I remember. With my first paycheck from the fast food commercial, I bought a drum set immediately. And then from my first paycheck from Captain Barbell, I bought a jacket from Armani Exchange that I still have. It still fits me. I still wear it," said Rhian when asked about his early paychecks from showbiz during the renewal of her contract with GMA Network recently.
Now 34, Rhian fondly recalled about the moment she first stepped onto the grounds of the Kapuso Network. There was a mix of excitement and ambition.
"I auditioned for Captain Barbell. I remember the waiting room on the 7th floor. And meeting Camille Prat in the same room. I remember trying super hard to remember my lines, and I couldn't because it was Tagalog. But I understand the context," she said.

This is a time for ideas, not just emotions
In last week's column, I tackled how our political and economic uncertainties need meaningful discussion so that solutions can be pursued. The inability to do that will leave us mired in repetitive drama, with much noise but little meaning needed to move forward. This breeds despair and anxiety, and a lack of hope for the future.
